Edinburgh convoy of 'classy bikers' to parade through streets this weekend

A convoy of classy Edinburgh motorcyclists are set to take over the capital this weekend while dressed to the nines - all in the name of mens mental health.

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride is a global charity event that involves bikers across the world getting their glad rags on and riding to raise money for charity.

The suave bikers will set off from the Edinburgh Triumph, Two Wheels showroom on Peffermill Road at 11am on Sunday, May 22.

This will be the tenth year of the event and is set to be a brilliant day raising money and awarenesses for men's health charities that are underfunded through the medium of over 100 dapper bikers.

It's part of a global event to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health as part of the Movember Foundation.

With thousands of bikers in cities across the world will be taking part in Distinguished Gentlemen's Rides for its tenth anniversary.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live organiser David Robinson said: "We will be setting of from our dealership but like to keep the route itself quiet for insurance purposes.

"Although it is in the vicinity of Edinburgh and is around 30 mile long - basically a big circle."

He explained: "We have been involved, since the world wide charity event was started in 2012.

"But this is my first year as a rider host - any rider can register and come along its free and for a great cause."

"There will be a raffle, food and other entertainment back at the dealership after the ride.

"We will assemble before and are scheduled to set off at 11am.

"So far we're at 137 riders and usually theres some last minute folk. We're expecting a lot of footfall on the day and will have donation buckets out" he added.
