Emergency crews have shut down a busy Edinburgh street amid an ongoing incident cutting off two major Capital roads.

Waterloo Place and Calton Road are on lockdown as crews from Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service respond to a callout.

Eyewitnesses told how personnel swarmed to the area shortly after 4pm on Monday, February 7.

Access to the two streets - which connect to Princes Street and Waverley Station among other prominent locations - has been blocked off to both pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
