A hotel in Edinburgh’s city centre has apologised after a customer claimed sleep was ‘totally impossible’ during their midweek stay.
The guest, who stayed at the Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge, said they stayed at the hotel on a Wednesday night and struggled to get any shut eye. They left a scathing TripAdvisor, with just one star, claiming the next door club was blasting music into the small hours.
Management were quick to respond, apologising for the noise. The complaint, left at the end of March, stated: “Don’t stay here if you want a good night's sleep.

“Totally impossible even on a mid week Wednesday night stay due to loud music from the club next door, could literally hear every word of the songs being played until the early hours of the morning.”
Responding, Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge posted: “Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay at our hotel.
“We are glad that you felt welcomed and found our service good. I am sorry about the noise you experienced.
“I hope you reported to our staff in order to make your stay better. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.”
Overall, the city centre hotel appears to be well received by guests who have given it an average four star rating. With 1,476 ‘excellent’ ratings, and only 113 ‘terrible’ ones, it seems to be popular with customers.
A review made this month, which granted the spot five stars, stated: “Perfect location for the Royal Mile, castle and Holyrood Palace.
“Based in the old town and a short walk to the new town of Edinburgh. Lovely, pleasant and helpful staff.
“Good bar menu. Delicious breakfast and clean rooms, would definitely stay again.”
