Edinburgh city centre double garage sells for astonishing £185k as prices boom

An Edinburgh city centre garage has been sold for more than many would be able to fork out for a home after the site was purchased this year.

Put on the market for offers over £185,000, the two door building is located in one of the most expensive and sought after areas of the capital.

Tucked behind Lynedoch Place Lane, the building is right between the West End and city centre, where many properties are sold for close to the million pound mark.

However, the garage itself, although coming with a lot of "potential", has no windows or real ventilation, with the storage space large enough to fit two vehicles, one on either side.

The Record reports that the site was marketed through estate agents Savills who have updated their website telling prospective buyers it had been snapped up.

The total space available at the Lynedoch Place Lane site is 337 sq ft.

Figures last year revealed the average house price in Edinburgh sits at £293,406 while the average price for Scotland was said to be £183,000.

The official sales brochure said: "The garage presents the opportunity to be converted into one larger unit."

Ben Fox, a property agent with Savills, said: "This is a secure and spacious double garage in the West End that would be ideal for parking or storage."
