Two patients have been rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary following the smash.

The west lane is still restricted and there are reportedly delays of up to an hour as emergency services remain at the scene.

One eyewitness at the scene told Edinburgh Live: "I heard it was a lorry transporting a car and a van which went into the back of the lorry at the front."

Images show huge queues of vehicles piling up behind the scene of the lorry smash while an ambulance and police car blocks the road.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area if possible and warned of long waits on the A720 westbound. It is unclear if anyone was injured in the crash but an ambulance is attending the scene.
