Edinburgh city bypass blocked as rush hour crash spark delays for drivers

Edinburgh drivers have been issued a warning following a collision this morning.

According to Traffic Scotland, the eastbound city bypass is partially blocked after a road traffic incident occurred on Monday morning.

At 9.54am, Traffic Scotland shared that drivers should expect delays as there has been a collision on the Edinburgh city bypass heading east between the Calder and Baberton slip roads.

As of 10.35am, lane one remains closed on the Edinburgh City bypass heading east between the Calder and Baberton slip roads. Drivers have been cautioned that traffic remains slow in the area so expect delays.

Queues have quickly formed back through Hermiston Gait and along the M8 to Newbridge.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers received a report of a crash involving two vehicles on A720 which happened around 9.50am on Monday, 16 January, 2023. Recovery of vehicles is under-way."
