Edinburgh Christmas market punters forced to wait in 'Disneyland-like queues' for entry

Edinburgh Christmas market goers have been left fuming after being forced to wait in 'Disneyland-like' queues to get inside.

Videos have emerged on TikTok, showing queues of hundreds snaking down the street waiting to gain access to the popular festive market. The queue lines can be seen outside Waverley Station and backed up to Princes Street in the capital.

Punters vocalised their disappointment in comments left on a TikTok video.

Nicola said: "Actually couldn't think of anything worse."

Karoline Middleton added: "We were there at the weekend. Beautiful city, however I am very disappointed with the market."

Karen wrote: "Why is it so busy? You could just walk straight in a few years ago."

Scotty added: "Really need to open another entrance having one way in and three ways out doesn't make much sense." User @llll0595 shared the video, joking: 'Merry Christmas lol'.

Replying, Aaron De La Haye, wrote: "That's a whole lot of waiting for a £70 hot chocolate.".

The world famous Christmas market opened on November 25 this year. The opening got off to a rocky start with massive queues and an unfinished arena, which left festive fans facing an additional 40 minute wait before entering, reports Edinburgh Live.

Edinburgh city council has been contacted for comment.
