Christmas is in the air as Edinburgh’s Big Christmas Wheel arrived in the city on Tuesday.
“The new stunning big wheel for this year's Edinburgh Christmas market has arrived for the big build,” Taylor's Of Edinburgh Funfair announced online.
The Forth 1 Big Wheel arrived in the city ahead of its seasonal debut later this month, and it will soon tower above the Edinburgh skyline at 45 metres high.
“It provides passengers a unique perspective of the city with incredible views of the historic Old Town, Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat,” Taylor’s of Edinburgh Funfair said.

When it’s constructed, the wheel will sit in the East Princes Street Garden offering a great view of all the nearby holiday festivities.
“The Forth 1 Big Wheel returns to East Princes Street Gardens to give passengers a unique perspective of our spectacular city. With incredible views of the historic Old Town, Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat, as well as sparkling evening views of Edinburgh’s Christmas attractions, one ride on the Forth 1 Big Wheel won’t be enough! Enjoy the comfort of the enclosed, weather-proof pods, with an informative soundtrack by some of Forth 1’s finest DJs,” the Wheel’s ticket website brags.
The Christmas Wheel has 36 enclosed weatherproof pods which can each carry six people.
The wheel will operate 25 November to 3 January 2023 from 10am-10pm each day. Tickets cost £10 and £8 for concessions. Family tickets are available.
Edinburgh residents can also receive a 20 percent discount with proof of their EH postcode.
