Edinburgh car left impaled on bollard after bizarre collision on quiet street

An Edinburgh car was left impaled on a bollard following a bizarre collision on a quiet street.

The red smart car managed to become stuck after driving into the black metal bollard on Boswell Parkway, Granton, on Thursday evening, December 8, as police rushed to the scene.

One passer-by shared images with Edinburgh Live of the bizarre incident which reportedly saw the driver get out and attempt to lift the small vehicle off the bollard and back onto the road.

The driver was supposedly uninjured and walked away from the collision shortly before police arrived at the scene and recovery for the vehicle was arranged.

The car appears to have collided with the pole at a speed hump and was a result, was left dangling dangerously above the road with only minor damage to the front of the motor including the registration plate being ripped off.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7pm on Thursday, 8 December, 2022, police were called to the Boswall Parkway area of Edinburgh, following a report of a car colliding with a bollard.

"The driver left the scene and enquiries to trace them and establish the full circumstances remain ongoing.”
