Edinburgh Candy Land announce immediate closure due to 'cost of living crisis'

An Edinburgh sweet shop has been forced to close immediately due to rising costs and a reluctance to hike their prices.

Candy Land, on Gorgie Road, has been a popular confectionary store in the area for the last five years but the company's owner recently took to social media to inform customers that they have ceased trading.

Another victim of the harsh cost of living crisis, they said that the decision came down to either closing or increasing prices for customers, which they were reluctant to do.

Candy Land's huge pick n mix selection was popular among customers with the team also offering desserts, classic sweets and large birthday party bundles. Locals nearby were also able to benefit from a delivery service that the store offered.

Posting on Facebook, Candy Land's Director thanked customers over the years, saying: "It is with great sadness that I write this post, I have been the proud owner of this business for over five years now but sadly we can no longer keep the doors open.

"We have always tried to keep our prices as low as possible which can no longer be sustained. The choices were to rocket up prices as most suppliers have had to do lately or close the shop.

We have had some amazing managers and staff at CL and I thank yous all for the service you provided - the shop would not have ran without you. Huge thank you to every customer who walked through our door with a smile on your face it will be missed.

"Thank you all from the Director of Candy Land Edinburgh."

The post received over 500 likes and nearly 400 people have commented and left a message for the staff following the sudden announcement.
