Edinburgh bypass drivers face delays as skip lorry gets stuck under bridge

Edinburgh and Midlothian drivers have been warned to expect delays after a skip lorry became wedged under a bridge.

Taking place near Sheriffhall roundabout, the HGV had crashed into the low bridge on the A7 between the A720 and Danderhall.

Clearly believing they could fit under the concrete structure, the lorry itself had quickly become stuck, with the attached skip pushed from its secure position and left hanging almost vertically. The front wheels of the truck were lifted clear of the road by the force of the impact and left hanging as the vehicle became wedged.

Police and recovery services had raced to the scene on the A7, with motorists encouraged to avoid the area, and Traffic Scotland warning of delays on the bypass as a result.

“The road is currently closed and a diversion is in place.“There are no reports of anyone injured.”
