Emergency crews have rushed to the scene of a fire in Gorgie following reports of a bus ablaze in the middle of a busy Edinburgh road.
Passengers were forced to abandon the single decker service after smoke began billowing from the back of the vehicle at the corner of Gorgie Road and Robertson Avenue shortly before 11am on Sunday morning.
Motorists waiting in traffic told how “flames were coming out the engine” of the First Bus, prompting some to get out their own cars while the teams from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) accelerated to the incident.
