Edinburgh brewery launches 'soor' luminous green beer for St Patricks Day

An Edinburgh brewery have created a sweet “Apple Soor” beer which is luminous green ahead of St Patricks Day this Thursday.

Vault City Brewing in Portobello are known for their limited edition beers and experimental brewing and this time have launched a belter.

The geniuses at the seaside brewery have managed to create a beer that is brighter shade of green than a pitcher of Venom with a taste that can bring you back to your teenage years - perfect for celebrating St Paddys in the capital.

The "Apple Soor" beer is based on Apple Sourz and has the sweet then sour finish you'd get from a Granny Smith apple.

The Portobello-based brewery say the first 250 web orders will receive a free shot glass – perfect for St Patrick’s Day festivities.

The bright green beer is already a hit with bars across the country, with more than 50 having already placed orders to bring their revellers something unique this St Paddys.

Vault City co-founder Steven Smith-Hay told the Record: “The sour sensation is perfect for nights that go on a little too long.

"We’ve been overwhelmed by the pick-up from bars and nightclubs, and we are proud to be a part of people’s St Patrick’s Day plans.

“We’re fruit fanatics at Vault City, and we’ve made beers showcasing just about every colour in the rainbow.

"It’s great to have green ticked off the list, and we hope people will think of Ireland, St Patrick’s Day and memories of their favourite nights out when they see it and drink it.”

The beer is the latest in a long line of experimental beers from the Portobello-based brewery, with their limited-edition Iron Brew beer flying off the shelves on Burns Night back in January.

Every third Sunday, the innovative Edinburgh brewery releases three new beers which always prove popular with craft beer fans.

The most recent drop also includes a mouth-watering Guava and Passion fruit beer and a Stevnsbaer Sour Cherry beer made using 999g of cherries from an organic orchard in Denmark per litre.
