A bin lorry has collided with a police van on a busy street in Edinburgh's city centre.

The incident took place on Hunter Square shortly after 1pm as an image taken by an eyewitness shows the bin lorry and marked police vehicle in Blair Street. It is currently unknown if the lorry belongs to the council.

Images show the truck and van next to the pavement on Hunter Square - with a second police van behind it.
