Edinburgh Beyoncé show sees popular city hotel prices skyrocket to over £700 a night

As we wait in hour-long queues for tickets and pray for luck at general sale, Beyoncé is preparing to bring her Renaissance tour to UK -and more specifically, Edinburgh's BT Murrayfield Stadium.

But as we bag tickets and get excited for May 20, there's one thing that some people could be forgetting - where they will be staying after the concert. Many locals will head home to their house, but some will be looking to continue the party in the capital, and rest their heads in a hotel.

Edinburgh Live have researched the hotels available for a one-night stay on May 20 this year, and prices have doubled from the week previous - likely due to the Single Ladies singer performing at Murrayfield.

According to booking.com, hotels in Edinburgh's city centre have skyrocketed in price on the weekend that Beyoncé is coming to town.

For example, the Yotel Hotel in the New Town neighbourhood of Edinburgh on May 20 is £650 for non-members for just the one night - based on two adults staying in one Premium Queen room.

Two weekends before this, on May 6, the same room for the same amount of people is £385 - which is a price increase of £285 alone for this hotel.

For the Residence Inn by Marriott in Edinburgh, one night in a double bedroom suite for two adults on May 20 is £499. On May 6, this same room is just £269 - a price jump of £230.

But one of the biggest price jumps is The George Hotel in Edinburgh, an IHG hotel. For one night in a King Bed Premium room for two people is a whopping £748 on May 20. And again, for the same level of stay and length of time on May 6, it is £339 for two people - a massive price rise of £409.

All of the hotels mentioned above have been contacted for comment on the matter.

An IHG Hotels & Resorts spokesperson said: "Our hotel owners set their pricing on a daily basis, in line with supply and demand.

"This means their prices vary depending on availability, date, location and whether there is an event in the area."

Edinburgh Live have approached Yotel and Marriott for comment on this matter.
