Edinburgh-based Rockstar Games confirms hacker got hold of Grand Theft Auto VI

Rockstar Games has confirmed hackers had managed to get a hold of footage from their latest game after a clip had emerged online.

The gaming creators, who have a base in Edinburgh, issued a statement on Monday (September 19) where they shared that early development footage had been stolen from their systems of the new Grand Theft Auto.

Taking an array of "confidential information" from their systems, Rockstar said they were "extremely disappointed" that the footage from their eagerly-awaited next game had been taken.

"At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to out live game services nor any long term effect on the development of our ongoing projects.
