Edinburgh bargain hunter manages to blag trip to Lake Como for unreal £35

A passenger flying from Edinburgh Airport has taken a round trip to Milan, with a day trip to the dreamy Lake Como, for the same price as a train to Dundee from Waverley.

Craig Ferguson shared the incredible value trip on TikTok showing a breakdown of the trip that includes return flights, a train to Lake Como and back for under £35.

Meanwhile, a return trip to Dundee from Edinburgh will cost you £39.50 for an open return. Dundee may have the water and some incredible sights to see but it's definitely no Lake Como.

Speaking in the video Craig said: "So we are going to Lake Como for under £35 mental I know... Do you know what's even more mental? These flights were £16 for a return, yes a return - absolutely crazy."

He continued: "We flew to Milan Bergamo so we had to get a £10 bus into the city centre which wasn't too bad.

"Then we stayed at the QUO Hostel, which was one of the best I have stayed in for £20 a night. Then as always, we headed on a wee walk before we went out for the night.

"Then we headed out for our first night out, here is us doing some whisky shots with one of the Italian boys we met and he was a Paolo (Nutini) fan as well so shout out to him."

Despite a night of drinking, Craig explained that a hangover would never stop him and his pal from taking in the views while on holiday.

He said: "No hangover has ever stopped us, we were back up early the next morning to go explore and here is us inside of Duomo and here is us on top of it.

"When in Milan it would be rude of us not to go to Zara for a bit of shopping, then we went to the Starbucks roastery for a wee coffee, and then we went to the San Siro.

"We obviously did the stadium tour because we are big football fans and it was class."

After visiting the most titled football stadium in the world, the Scottish tourists headed out for some relaxed drinks on their second night in Italy.

On the third day the pair visited the beautiful Lake Como, Craig said: "We got an early train to Como which was £6, I mean the colours when we arrived were amazing.

"We saw that there was a wee walk five minutes from the Airbnb so we went on it and oh my god, it was the best decision I ever made.

"Then we sat with our AirPods in while taking in this amazing sunset and ended the day by taking a dip in one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Canny beat it."

The TikTok traveller shared a breakdown of the mini-break not including spending money, which even with accommodation came to £52.

Polly said: "Lads I’m super impressed."

While another added: "Wow! Two young Scottish guys living there best life! Taking it all in! I am inspired."

The Scottish tourist from Paisley also mentioned that they booked the trip four weeks before and that it helps to be flexible with dates when looking for cheap flights.

He also added that the weather is a potluck, the week they visited it was sunny and they got lucky but it was raining for the entire week afterwards.
