An Edinburgh Barclays bank has been smashed open by thugs - just three days after a Glasgow branch was also hit.
The glass front of the Princes Street business has been completely destroyed with a large hole left where the doors used to be.
Broken shards litter the pavement at the scene, which remains behind a police cordon on Monday lunchtime.
Police confirmed they were called to the scene shortly after 4am on May 23 and that enquiries to trace the person or people responsible remain ongoing.
It is understood that the incident is being treated as vandalism and isn’t connected to the similar incident on Glasgow’s Argyle Street last Friday.
A statement from Barclays said: “Our priority is to ensure the health and safety of our colleagues and customers. We are working hard to get the Princes Street branch open as soon as we possibly can.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “We were called around 4.05am on Monday, 23 May, to a report of damage at a business premises on Princes Street, Edinburgh.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
