Armed police have locked down a busy Edinburgh street following a major incident on Monday afternoon.
Several police 4x4s and armed officers were pictured on Drum Street, Gilmerton, as the street was locked down with no access for vehicles or pedestrians.
Images from the scene show black-cladded officers standing guard outside a row of shops in the area shortly after 5pm on April 17.

The exact nature of the incident is currently unknown, with locals reporting a heavy police presence in the area throughout the afternoon, including officers being spotted at a local Morrisons.
