Edinburgh Airport shares security update to 'get through as quickly as possible'

Edinburgh Airport has issued new advice to passengers to get "through security as quickly as possible".

With summer at its peak, people from around Scotland will be headed to Edinburgh Airport to jet off for some sun in the coming weeks — especially with Ryanair holding a 'flash sale' on tickets this week.

Due to the high number of people rushing to the airport, queues are to be expected, particularly at security. To help ease waiting times and ensure passengers aren't late for their flights, Edinburgh Airport shared new guidance on its social media channels.

Writing on Facebook, it said: "Help us out by preparing for security like a pro. Follow these tips to help us get you through security as quickly as possible."

The airport also shared a video showing step-by-step guidance for travellers to make their journey through security as stress-free as possible. This includes advice such as removing jackets and belts, and ensuring objects in the security trays are uncovered.

The video states: "Preparing for security is one of the best ways to move through Edinburgh Airport quickly. Before you reach security, stop at one of the tables to transfer any liquids into one of the clear plastic bags provided.

"Liquids must be under 100ml each and all fit in one bag. Remember that sealed jams, spreads and vapes do count as liquids.

"Anything over 100ml is not permitted. If you have a reusable bottle then you can empty it into the sink and then refill after you've moved through security."

It continues: "As you are waiting, remove your jacket and belt, and make sure your pockets are empty. Shoes can stay on, unless a security officer asks you to remove them.

"Remove any liquids, tablets, laptops and phones and place them in another tray, making sure nothing is covering them. Place your bag or suitcase in a tray and then make your way through the scanner.

"Lift your trays from the belt and take them to one of the designated areas to repack your bag. When you're ready, leave the security hall and head into the departures area, and get ready to enjoy your trip."
