The stabbing happened at Edgware Road Tube station during rush hour - (SunDawn)

Three people have been arrested after a man was stabbed at Edgware Road Tube station on Tuesday evening’s rush hour.

The station was closed off for several hours as police responded to the knifing at roughly 5pm with a man taken to hospital by paramedics suffering from knife wounds.

The man, whose age has not been given, is not thought to have sustained life-changing or life-threatening injuries.

Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, alongside a man, 20, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

British Transport Police Detective Chief Inspector Steve May said: “Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and passengers will see an increased police presence in the area as a result.”

DCI May urged witnesses to get in contact with police.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We took a man to a London Major trauma centre. Ambulance crew, incident response officer and air ambulance attended."

While the station, which serves the Bakerloo Line, was closed for several hours on Tuesday, it has since reopened.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 513 of 19 November.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
