The Baltimore Ravens signed safety Eddie Jackson away from the Chicago Bears on a one-year, $1.5 million deal. He’s exactly what the doctor ordered for Baltimore, replacing the departed Geno Stone as a quality safety depth who can make an impact in multiple different ways.
During his time in Chicago, Jackson wasn’t a part of many contending teams. He was asked about what it’s like to join a contender and said that while the results of the work the Bears didn’t show up in the record department, he’s hoping to be the missing piece on the Ravens’ back-end in 2024.
“You know when you’re going out there, you’re working towards [something]. Not saying that wasn’t the [case] in Chicago, but the results didn’t show up when it came to the record. Seeing the roster, the record and what these guys have been able to do over these last few years – and even last year how close they came – I’m just coming in trying to be that missing piece on that back end of that defense and do whatever I can to contribute and help us eventually [achieve] a Super Bowl.”
Jackson will likely see action in three-safety looks for Baltimore this season but can also fill in as a starter in case of injury. It was the perfect fit for both Jackson and the Ravens, one that has the potential to pay extreme dividends for both sides.
