Eddie Howe urged to make three Newcastle United changes for Southampton clash

Newcastle United supporters have called for Eddie Howe to make three changes to the starting XI which defeated Everton 4-1 at Goodison Park on Thursday night.

The Magpies welcome rock bottom Southampton to St James' Park buoyed by back-to-back victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Everton respectively.

Nick Pope is tipped by Newcastle fans to retain his place between the sticks, while Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman and Fabian Schar keep their places.

However, Matt Targett, who was given a rare start in Merseyside, drops out of the side and is replaced by Dan Burn at left-back.

Newcastle supporters have stuck with the midfield trio of Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock, but make two changes to the attacking line.

Alexander Isak comes in at the expense of Callum Wilson, despite the latter scoring twice against the Toffees, and Jacob Murphy replaces Miguel Almiron on the right wing.

Murphy came on during the second half against Everton to score, and has netted three goals in his last two matches for the Magpies.

Newcastle (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Botman, Schar, Burn; Longstafff, Guimaraes, Willock; Murphy, Isak, Joelinton.
