Eddie Howe says time wasting by Leeds United sums up how far Newcastle United have come

Eddie Howe has put Newcastle United's goalless draw with Leeds United down to "one of those days" after the Yorkshire club left Tyneside with a point.

Leeds restricted Newcastle's space and stopped key men like Miguel Almiron and Bruno Guimaraes finding the gaps in defence as they have in recent weeks.

Howe said after the game: "It was one of those days for us. We had enough chances to win the game comfortably.

"It just wouldn't go in for us today. You have take one of those chances.

"It is a sign of how far we have come that they were time-wasting and doing everything they could to take time out of the game. All that was missing was the final third."

Howe's team have finished 2022 in unbeaten fashion and still end it in third place. Looking back on the year Howe said: "A lot has happened in the year. If you think back to where were and the strides made by the players., it has been a great year. We hope we continue the momentum we have got."
