Eddie Howe's 'best' quest as Newcastle hunt for one of Jurgen Klopp's 'most important signings'

Eddie Howe has vowed that his quest to bring the 'best staff' to Newcastle United will never stop as the Magpies head coach looks to get even more out of his players.

There have been a number of changes in the coaching, analysis and scouting departments since Howe took charge last November. Assistant Jason Tindall; first-team coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone; head of performance Dan Hodges; coach analyst Mark Leyland; and head of technical scouting Andy Howe have all followed Howe to Newcastle after previously working with the head coach.

Newcastle have since launched a search for an experienced sports performance nutritionist to ensure the first-team squad have the right fuel at the right time to deliver optimum performance. It is a crucial role in the modern game and Jurgen Klopp even described Liverpool's head of nutrition, Mona Nemmer, as one of 'my most important signings'.

Howe, similarly, wants to do all he can to help his players with such appointments because the 'margins between success and failure are so small'.

"We need to produce a higher level of everything right across the board for the players," he told reporters. "We need to give them every tool that they need to produce their best performances on a consistent basis so whatever area of the club that is, whether it is analysis, food or sleep, we need to try and educate the players as best we can.

"You will only do that with the best staff. I don't quite know what areas we will be looking to improve our product in but, certainly, that quest will never cease for me. It's always about trying to help the players in any way that we can."
