Eddie Howe reveals potential Alexander Isak Newcastle United debut date

Eddie Howe is hoping that Newcastle United complete their £58million move for Alexander Isak in time for Sunday's game at Wolves. The good news is there have been no hitches and the deal is expected to go through in due course.

But Howe indicated it was now in the hands of the selling club Real Sociedad. Howe said: "It's not completed - but we hope to. Fingers crossed (for Wolves) there's no guarantee and it's in other people's hands. Yeah hopefully.

“He’ll probably need to train with us in the next few days to be available to play. We’ll need to see how he is physically after his game last week so we’re very keen to see him and get him involved as quickly as possible.”

Newcastle moved for Isak in the aftermath of Callum Wilson's hamstring injury. Howe added: "Naturally, Callum's injury - it's not serious by the way and only out for two weeks - but naturally, we reacted slightly off that.

"We were looking for an attacking player but it (the injury) slightly changed our focus. We are delighted to hopefully sign Alex who will be a big player."

When asked if there would be further buys on the way, with a move for Joao Pedro not to be discounted, Howe said: "That's a difficult question but hopefully. From my perspective yes but we will have to sit down and talk."
