Eddie Howe refusing to 'park the bus' at Etihad Stadium insisting Newcastle United won't change

Eddie Howe insists he has no interest in parking the bus at the Etihad Stadium as he looks to break Newcastle United's Eastlands hoodoo.

Newcastle have failed to win a Premier League fixture at Man City since they switched from Maine Road to Eastlands back in 2003/04. Down the years various Toon managers have attempted to shut shop against City but suffered some painful results at the venue.

Howe said: "There's many ways to approach the game. "I wouldn't criticise anybody who does that because it might be their best way of getting a result.

"I'm not sure it's ours. In game, you need all hats and all tools. Liverpool we went down to 10 men and had to adjust. So you need to be able to adjust and play different ways."

The trip to City is the first of a series of testing road trips in the month ahead for Newcastle. After this Nottingham Forest will be waiting for the Magpies at the City Ground and after the international break there are trips to West Ham and Brentford.

When asked if away form is key in the remainder of the campaign, Howe stated he was not fussy where triumphs take place. He said: "We want wins wherever we can get them. "Home, away.

"Our home form is going to be critical, we are going to need to get that right. But the away games are going to be opportunities for us. I feel, and I said this at the start of the season, we can go anywhere and win if we bring our best game."
