Eddie Howe believes that Miguel Almiron could offer Newcastle United "a real weapon" in the Magpies' Premier League run-in. We're now down to just seven top-flight matches for United but there is still plenty to play for with merit money and the highest finish since 2018 still up for grabs.
With Ryan Fraser picking up an unfortunate hamstring injury Almiron could now get his big chance to impress. The South American battled hard against Wolves and got himself into a couple of goalscoring positions.
Reflecting on his performance and what he can bring to the table in the remaining fixtures, a delighted Howe said: "I thought Miggy did really well. Miggy has been away on international duty, then he was ill, so we haven't seen a great deal of him. But never doubt him physically."

Howe said he always knew that Almiron would come through fine despite a recent illness and a lack of training, he said: "Despite the fact he hasn't trained with us a great deal, I backed him physically to play that time, and the energy and pressing that Miggy gives you is a real weapon.
"He was tireless, his defensive positioning was very good and he had moments where he affected it in the final third, several good runs in behind. He played his part in the VAR goal that was disallowed, so a really good night for Miggy, I thought."
Almiron's agent is also on Tyneside for discussions on his client's future at the moment. And he will no doubt be keen to discover why Almiron has started just 13 times in the Premier League this season.
