Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe says that he will sit down and discuss a new contract with Switzerland international Fabian Schar soon. The former Deportivo de La Coruna star is out of contract in the summer having agreed a one-year extension last term.
Schar has been linked with moves to the Bundesliga in recent summers but currently finds himself in fine form and an integral part of Howe's team - keeping out skipper Jamaal Lascelles as things stand. Howe spoke of his admiration for the player today.

Howe said: "Fabian is someone I've always admired. "A really good footballing centre-back
"The most important thing for me is, if you take away the football side, he's defended very well. We're aware of his contract situation and we'll be discussing it with his agent very shortly."
Howe finds himself nominated for the Premier League's manager of the month award after a superb run of results in February. Newcastle face a Brighton & Hove Albion side that have won just one game in their last seven Premier League matches but sit in 10th place due to solid early season form.
Howe said: "My biggest judge of what the players think of me is their response to me on the training pitch and in meetings. All I am trying to do is bring as much as I can out the players. In return, I want 100% effort and that is what everyone has given me."
