Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe says he took Allan Saint-Maximin off with an injury at the City Ground. The Frenchman was hooked after a below par first half and replaced by Elliot Anderson but Howe later revealed he has an injury issue. Like the rest of his team-mates he will get the chance to rest up in Dubai between training sessions.
But Howe said last night: “Allan wasn’t quite right today, physically, I didn’t think. He’s been carrying a tight hamstring.
"I don’t think it’s a pull, it’s just a little bit of tightness. For me, it was obvious during that first half that he probably wouldn’t be able to carry on."

Howe was also spotted chatting to Callum Wilson and looked like he was bringing on the substitute before thinking better of it.
The Newcastle boss explained: "I didn’t want to expose Callum today, he hasn’t done a lot of training, so I decided to go with Elliot and he repaid me, he did really well. Hopefully, we’ll have Callum and Maxi fit and available after the international break."
