Eddie Howe has spoken of his delight after Miguel Almiron's double over Gateshead today. The Paraguay captain has a big campaign ahead and faces the biggest test yet of his Newcastle United career with Howe looking to add more fire power to his squad.
The £21million man knows that the arrival of a star such as Moussa Diaby could be decisive as far as his own future is concerned. But Howe was pleased with his opening performance of pre-season, and speaking to NUFC TV he said: "[He scored] Two great goals, both different.
"He showed his athleticism in the first and composure in the second. So I’m delighted with Miggy. He’s come back here and hasn’t had a lot of training as we gave him a little bit of extended time off with the other international players. Physically he didn’t show any problems."
United will fly off to Austria tomorrow to begin a 10-day intensive training camp with a backdrop of the Alps. They face 1860 Munich next Friday then a test against Mainz 05 a week on Monday.
