Eddie Howe arranges Newcastle United training session on same day as Crystal Palace game

Eddie Howe says he is not expecting Crystal Palace to arrive on Tyneside with any type of cup hangover.

The Newcastle United boss is eager for his players not to get sucked into any lazy narratives in the build-up to the clash with the Eagles. Palace were dealt a big blow when losing 2-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and with Patrick Vieira's men still coming down from the disappointment, it could be deemed an easier time to play them.

But Howe was having none of that and at his Press conference today, he said: "Crystal Palace have had a very good season. Obviously they'll be disappointed to go out in the FA Cup semi-final but Patrick Vieira has done an incredible job there and they've had an excellent season so I expect a very tough game."

Howe also revealed his players will take part in training on the day of the game in order to keep up their sharpness levels. He said: "We will train in the morning and then the players will go home, have a rest and come to the stadium.

"I really enjoy the night games and I certainly enjoy them here. "They give you a slightly different buzz so we're looking forward to it."

Newcastle boss Howe is eager to see another jumping St James' Park against Palace, he reflected: "It's such a privilege to play in the stadium and the atmosphere that the supporters have created is fantastic. "We needed that support on Sunday and they got that reward with the goal at the end.

"It was a big thank you from us to them for sticking with us."
