Oh, what a relief. What a wonderful feeling of thank you. We have waited so long for so little, yet hardly so little. Three points is a bountiful meal right now. It is like dining out. Like steak instead of bread and jam.
Suddenly the shivering snow has melted away and the sun is beating down upon Geordies. So let me hand out a few bouquets. First to Eddie Howe, who hates to make changes but boldly made five here and was roundly rewarded.
Next to Alexander Isak and Joe Willock, two of those called to arms who were responsible for the goals which ended a far-too-long drought. Isak, who has had more public backing than Gary Lineker, proved his point magnificently when at long last given a start.

He not only scored the crucial opener with a majestic header but ran Wolves ragged in a first-half of total United dominance. And what of Willock? Tragically for him he missed the Wembley cup final through injury but, started because of Joelinton's two match ban, it was his vision in congested traffic slipping a wonderfully weighted pass to Miggy Almiron that brought a deserved Newcastle winner after a fluke leveller gifted to Wolves.
Top scorer Almiron deserves a slap on the back too coming off the bench to finish with a sweeping shot from wide which has become his trademark this season.
It must have been a huge relief for Kieran Trippier who had led like the skipper he is, provided the pin point free-kick for Isak's goal, but then slipped when clearing to give Hwang Hee-chan a tap in. It was all heart thumping, passionate thrust and parry in search of what once earlier in the campaign came naturally but in the end all was good.
What a transformation the three points have brought. Suddenly United have leapfrogged Liverpool back into fifth place two points ahead of the red upstarts with a game in hand and a better goal difference.
What is more Liverpool's next three PL games are away at Man City and Chelsea, before Arsenal at home. Look up and Spurs are only four points ahead having played two matches more. See what I mean about the snow miraculously disappearing and the sun beaming down on Tyneside?
The incentive was significantly heightened before kick off of course. It had been like ring-a-ring-a-roses, all fall down. Well, a lot of them anyway... Liverpool lost at Bournemouth, Brentford got done at Everton, Fulham well beaten home to Arsenal, and Brighton dropped a couple of points at Leeds.
Of course none of it matters a jot unless you help yourself and, ta very much, at last we did. Now United must go to Nottingham Forest on Friday night and put them to the buck.
