Jurgen Klopp has been 'really disrespectful' with his comments about Newcastle United and should focus on his own team because he has got a 'lot of problems' at Liverpool.
That is the view of former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood after Klopp sarcastically congratulated Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth following his declaration that the club had no ceiling earlier this month. The German said there were 'three clubs in world football who can do what they want financially' when 'other clubs have ceilings'.
Ashworth, of course, was referring to Newcastle's ambitions rather than the amount of money the club can spend. However, Klopp did not interpret it like that even though Ashworth admitted that continuing to spend £200m a year on players was 'unsustainable'.

Although Eddie Howe does not tend to get drawn into these sorts of exchanges, even the Newcastle head coach warned Klopp to be 'careful' after he felt the need to 'stand up' for the club. Sherwood, who worked alongside Howe as a fellow pundit for Premier League Productions during the 44-year-old's time out of the game, thought Klopp's dig was 'rich'. Sherwood even went as far as to say the Liverpool boss should 'get on with his own team because he's got a lot of problems there'.
"I think some comments that have been made in recent weeks about Eddie Howe and about spending have been really disrespectful," Sherwood told the Kelly and Wright Show. "He actually improves some of the players that they already had.
"Joelinton, for instance, is the biggest example. Someone who was a failed number nine with previous managers is all of a sudden playing as a number eight in central midfield and running the game. [Bruno] Guimaraes has obviously been one of his signings, but I think he has been astute in the market. He has not wasted any money and he's improved the players that they already had.
"It's a little bit disrespectful to suggest that it's just about the money because they haven't spent anything. Just hold your breath and wait for what's going to come."
