Eddie Hearn to snub Amir Khan vs Kell Brook after claiming stars are "finished"

Eddie Hearn has claimed he won't watch "finished" fighters Amir Khan and Kell Brook face each other in their grudge showdown.

The pair will finally settle their decade-long rivalry in Manchester on Saturday night.

Hearn previously held talks with the pair over staging the bout but talks later collapsed after he claimed the fight was "bust".

The Matchroom Boxing kingpin believes the event is a "money grab" but remains interested in knowing the outcome of the clash.

“When I was trying to do the deal, it was a very different fight,” Hearn told SecondsOut. “When I was trying to do the deal it was for a world title. It was a fight that was a blockbuster.

"Still, people want to watch the fight, I know. I’m interested to know who wins, will I sit down and watch it, probably not. Of course I want to know what happens now. It’s intriguing now. Both guys are finished.

"You just don’t know what’s going to happen. When I was trying to make the fight there was so much more at stake. Now, it's almost like a shake of the hands. ‘Listen, let’s just do it.’

“I’ve been involved in money grabs, but [Khan-Brook] it is [a money grab]. It’s just the two of them going, ‘Let’s not be silly. This is massive money for the both of us. Let’s make the fight, mate.’

“But they are both 50 percent the fighters they once were. But it’s still going to be a 50-50 fight. I still look at Kell and it looks like he’s training hard. Khan doesn't look particularly sharp or great, but he’s going to give it his everything.”

Hearn was previously pictured having held a meeting with Khan over a potential matching with Brook after several years of failed attempts to hold the fight.

Brook was promoted by Matchroom Boxing for a large part of his career but recently went solo and fought on a Top Rank card against Terence Crawford.

Khan previously signed a three-fight deal with Hearn's label in 2018 fighting against Phil Lo Greco and Samuel Vargas before pursuing a clash with Brook's recent rival Crawford.

Hearn initially revealed talks were back open to make the domestic grudge match with both men keen to settle their rivalry before the end of their career.

However Khan has recently claimed he rejected a more lucrative offer to take the fight to be promoted by BOXXER and Sky Sports.

"For Kell to say that it just shows that bitterness and jealousy he has," Khan said. "I am doing this for the public. No disrespect to Sky but I was offered more money by Eddie Hearn for this fight.

"But I turned that down and obviously it was up to me with what TV deal and promoter I go with, if it was to do with the money I would have definitely gone with Eddie Hearn."
