Eddie Hearn sets impressive score on punch machine compared to Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury

Eddie Hearn showed off his impressive power by breaking a record on Matchroom Boxing's punch machine.

The promoter smashed the machine's previous record of 810 with a huge right hook that scored him an impressive 924. Given Hearn is just a promoter and had limited boxing experience during his youth. It's even more impressive considering Anthony Joshua recently scored just 41 points higher on DAZN's punch machine whilst Tyson Fury recorded a whopping 993 on a machine in his gym.

It's worth noting that all of the machines have different calibrations, but Hearn showed his power is no fluke when he scored 941 last year on the same machine that Joshua recently got 965 on. Fury came close to breaking the machine with his score that trumps both Hearn and Joshua's whilst the heavyweight champion's brother Tommy also landed 949 on the same machine.

Hearn did have a couple of amateur fights in his youth, but turned to the promotion side of boxing after realising a career in the ring wasn't for him. The Matchroom Boxing boss is currently in Abu Dhabi for this Saturday's light heavyweight title fight between WBA champion Dmitry Bivol and Gilberto Ramirez, both of whom are unbeaten. Hearn described the world title clash as an "elite level fight" and is excited for Matchroom's debut in the region.

"It's a really good fight, we wanted Joshua Buatsi to get his shot at the world title," Hearn told Behind the Gloves. "The WBA didn't allow that fight and ordered Zurdo which fair enough, he was number one. We have a tremendous fight, I really feel like it's one of the fights of the year. Dmitry Bivol is coming off the Canelo Alvarez victory, he's on the pound-for-pound list. Zurdo is 44-0, a former 168lb world champion who has a big Mexican following as well.

"I feel like it's an elite fight and it's a great fight. Chantelle Cameron vs Jessica McCaskill for the undisputed, Zelfa Barrett for a world title, Galal Yafai and others. Zurdo against Bivol is a real elite level fight that I feel is going to do great numbers, we're going to have a big crowd on Saturday. First fight for us [Matchroom] in the region, it's a very important moment."

Hearn has come under fire in recent weeks for his handling of Conor Benn's drug test failure which saw his highly-anticipated fight against Chris Eubank Jr cancelled. The promoter was branded a "coward" by talkSPORT host Simon Jordan for the situation and Hearn has since challenged the presenter to a fight.
