Eddie Hearn has revealed that Anthony Joshua felt he 'may never get the chance again' as an agreement to fight Anthony Joshua edges closer to an official announcement.
Joshua is reported to have agreed to a 60:40 purse split in favour of Fury, with a fight taking place on December 3rd in Cardiff's Pricipality Stadium. Joshua also entered the WBC rankings in sixth earlier in the week, paving the way for the fight to take place against the reigning WBC Champion.
After a year where it appeared the pair's careers had taken differing routes, the news that a fight has been agreed will be a surprise to some. This is what seems to have fuelled Joshua's desire to take a fight on December 3rd, having previously wanted a December 17th date as the chance may not come around again for the highly-anticipated fight to take place.

On Tuesday., In a tweet, 258MGT said: "Joshua- Fury update: 258 and @MatchroomBoxing can confirm, on behalf of @anthonyjoshua, that we accepted all terms presented to us by Fury’s team for a fight Dec 3rd last Friday. This message was retweeted by Joshua, with the tweet also confirming that negotiations had been on hold due to the Queen's passing.
Matchroom Boxing Chairman Eddie Hearn revealed on Tuesday that Joshua believed such a chance may not come around again and that Fury's terms had been accepted as a result: “We had an offer for the fight. We weren’t happy with all the terms. We tried to negotiate those terms and we were told there is no negotiation, take it or leave it and we took it,” Hearn told Matchroom Boxing.
“I didn’t expect the next fight to be Tyson Fury but AJ is the boss he’s the guy that makes the decisions and he said ‘I may never get the chance again’ because if he fights Usyk he retires etcetera ‘so if It’s here, I accept’ I would have liked to negotiate a little bit harder but for AJ it wasn’t really about that it was about ‘if this is real, take it.”
