Jake Paul could be forced to spar Tony Bellew thanks to Eddie Hearn winning bet

Eddie Hearn has revealed he could send Tony Bellew to spar Jake Paul after winning his bet with the YouTube star.

Hearn and Paul shook hands on a $1million wager ahead of Katie Taylor's undisputed clash with Amanda Serrano last weekend. Hearn has promoted Taylor since her professional debut in 2016 which Paul has represented Serrano in recent years.

The pair were ultimately advised not to follow through with the wager and instead came up with an alternative before Taylor successfully defended her world titles against Serrano in New York on Saturday night.

"I spoke to Sean Palmer who is our chief head of council and when I came off stage he was like, 'It's not a great look, it's a grey area, a promoter betting on a fight he's promoting, it doesn't look great'," Hearn told The MMA Hour.

'We spoke to Nakisa [Bidarian of Most Valuable Promotions] and Jake and said we can't do the bet but do you want to come up with something? We didn't finalise anything but the last thing we came up with was, if Katie lost, I would have to spar Jake and we'd probably stream it for charity.

"Or if we won, I would send someone to spar Jake, which we'll see... Tony Bellew would be a good one. The problem with Jake is he's in a world where its strike on sight. If you say something to someone thats offensive or disrespectful, in this world it's not a conversation, its strike on sight.

"If he said something to Tony Bellew that was disrespectful, there's no conversation, he would iron him out on sight."

Paul has fought five times as a professional, winning four by stoppage, but has never faced anyone of Bellew's ability. The pair have traded jibes in recent days after Paul claimed the former cruiserweight world champion was only known for his role in Rocky film Creed.

But Bellew revealed he and Paul met backstage at Madison Square Garden with the YouTube star showing him respect. "He just stepped up to me and went, 'I respect you'. He put his fist out and we touched fists. I thought, 'I can have that, sound, not a problem mate'," Bellew told talkSPORT.
