Matchroom Boxing kingpin Eddie Hearn believes a super-fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford can happen in 2025, but only in America. Hearn, who has previously worked with ‘Canelo’, believes the fight only works in America and not in Saudi Arabia.
Canelo vs Terence Crawford Super-Fight Rumours Gather Momentum
Rumours of a Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs Terence Crawford super-fight have hit new heights, after both fighters were separately pictured with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh recently in London.
Both fighters reportedly had separate meetings with the Saudi Arabia boxing chief, but fans are speculating as to what the meetings have been about. Given that a potential Canelo vs Crawford fight has been discussed previously, 99% of fans feel the fight is edging closer.
Should a fight between the great ‘Canelo‘ and Crawford materialise, it would be one of the biggest in the sport and one that would capture the fight fan’s imagination all over the world. Whether or not the fight happens remains to be seen, but the rumours have certainly gathered pace at a rapid rate this past week.
Time will tell whether or not Canelo vs Crawford happens in 2025 or not. The fight seems unlikely due to the weight differences, but that isn’t to say it won’t go ahead. His Excellency has made some incredible fights this past year to 18 months, so who’s to doubt him making Canelo vs Crawford too.
The separate meetings between Turki Alalshikh and the two fighters in London have certainly heightened any previous rumours of a Canelo vs Crawford clash. Fuel has been added to the fire, and it seems that the boxing mega-fight is closer to being announced than ever.

Eddie Hearn: ‘Canelo vs Crawford Only Works For Me In America’
Big time boxing is well and truly back. Fans are getting to see the biggest and best fights in the sport today, mainly thanks to His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, who’s vision and money has made it possible to stage some of the biggest and best fights of the past year in Saudi Arabia.
Fighters such as Oleksandr Usyk, Artur Beterbiev, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Dmitry Bivol and Jai Opetaia have all boxed in Saudi Arabia recently in big fights, with Turki Alalshikh to thank for their career-high paydays and opportunities.
One man who is yet to fight on a Riyadh Season card is Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. The great Mexican is yet to fight on any Riyadh Season card, but that could change in 2025. The Terence Crawford fight for later in the year looks like it’s close to being agreed, meaning ‘Canelo’ will officially become part of Riyadh Season.

However, Matchroom Boxing chairman Eddie Hearn, who worked with ‘Canelo’ for a brief period, believes that if the Canelo vs Crawford fight is to happen in 2025, it has to be in the USA, not Saudi Arabia.
“Canelo versus Crawford only works for me in America,” Hearn told DAZN.
“It’s just wherever Turki Alalshikh is going to be involved in that process. Like Benn-Eubank will be in England, but he will be involved to get it made.
“I’m not sure Canelo-Crawford happens in Saudi if I’m honest, or at all, but I don’t see a lot of options for Canelo at the moment.”
If Canelo vs Crawford does happen, it is likely to go down at the back end of the year.
