Eddie Hearn backs Dillian Whyte to send Tyson Fury "to sleep" in title fight

Eddie Hearn has predicted that Dillian Whyte will KO Tyson Fury in their upcoming heavyweight title fight.

Fury will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Whyte on April 23 at Wembley Stadium in a fight which was finally agreed after months of negotiations.

The 'Gypsy King' has expressed his confidence in retaining his world title and undefeated status and has claimed that Whyte's style is tailor-made for him to secure another victory.

Matchroom Boxing promoter Hearn disagrees, however, and believes Fury could be left struggling if the fight comes down to a battle of the left hooks.

"Whyte will not be knocked out," Hearn replied to a fan when asked by DAZN Boxing. "Tyson Fury in my opinion doesn't carry the power to take Dillian Whyte out.

"I believe actually when they trade up left hooks Tyson Fury will go to sleep, and he will go to sleep in round 11."

Whyte is known to have an aggressive style and has recorded several stoppage victories with his trademark left hook.

However Fury has yet to be beaten and recorded two remarkable victories against Deontay Wilder to dismiss one of the division's most powerful punchers.

Fury has attempted to antagonise his rival with repetitive social media videos in the build-up but is now on a blackout as he steps up his preparations.

The challenger has remained silent in the build-up to the fight as he continues to protest his displeasure at treatment in negotiations including his final fight purse.

The bout will be promoted by Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions with Fury set to earn a career-high £20million after being granted 80 per cent of the winning £31m purse bid by the WBC.

His rival will also earn a career-high payday of £6m but failed to show at the press conference to promote the fight casting further doubts over the rivalry.

Hearn has suggested he is confident that Whyte will oblige in fight week promotion of the event and will take the fight on the night.

Fury has disagreed with Hearn's pre-fight prediction and is confident that he could beat Whyte with a hand tied behind his back.

"Tyson Fury vs his own shadow will sell," Fury said at the press conference. "I am very confident, I am not a down to earth fellow I am on top of the world fellow.

"There is not even one percent doubt I am not going to annihilate Dillian Whyte. I believe that I can beat Dillian Whyte with one hand tied behind my back and one foot off the floor.

"For me it is just another fight to a milestone. I am not interested in people rate me because when I finish boxing it’s done for me. I have had my five minutes of fame."
