Eddie Hearn admits he won’t be able to compete with Jake Paul at press conferences

Eddie Hearn has admitted that he will be unable to compete with Jake Paul on the microphone when they are reunited later this year.

Hearn and Paul will co-promote Katie Taylor's undisputed lightweight title defence against Amanda Serrano on April 30 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

And the Matchroom Boxing boss, a veteran of hosting media events for massive world title fights, says he will allow social media star and 5-0 boxer Paul to lead the proceedings once the fight has been announced.

Details are still being ironed out for the bout, but it is expected to be signed and announced by the end of next week, with Paul having added significantly to Serrano's value since signing her last year.

"He can go," Hearn said in an exclusive chat with Mirror Fighting. "I'm going to let him go.

"I can't compete with him, chat-wise, and the worst thing that you can ever do as Dana White learned the other day is try and chat back to him.

"So I'm just going to stand up there and say 'as far as I understand, this is the second coming of Muhammad Ali, the greatest promoter of all time and just let him go.

"I don't mind, as I've got a bit older I've become a bit more humble - if you asked me 10 years ago, I might have said 'he can't outtalk me'.

"I'm sure he can, even though he can't outtalk me on boxing knowledge!"

Hearn promoted both Jake and his brother Logan Paul's professional debuts over a three month period right before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

Logan fought British YouTuber KSI in November of 2019 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles before Jake stopped social media star AnEsonGib within a round of their January 2020 meeting in Miami.

And he has admitted that he will be "using" Paul, and his social media following of over 50million fans, to make sure that the fight between Taylor and Serrano is one of the biggest in history.

"I'm using Jake Paul in this fight," Hearn continued. "And he knows that because he's using us to get more money for his fighter.

"He's going to be a massive asset to this fight because it's for history; it's the moment that women's boxing gets accepted as just boxing to the wider global audience.

"Yes, I can preach to them and DAZN can preach to them, but Jake speaks to a different set of fans who can actually come in, watch, fall in love with and help grow the sport.

"This is much bigger than just the biggest female fight in history, this is a game-changing moment that Katie and I have been working towards since the day she came into my office.

"It's that moment where the world stops and takes notice of women's boxing."
