Eddie Hall vs Thor fight purse and name changes revealed

Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson go head-to-head tonight in what's being called the 'heaviest boxing match in history'.

The two World's Strongest Man winners face off in Dubai and both fighters have agreed that they will donate the prize money to charity. It's not just pride on the line either, with a further wager being agreed between Hall and Bjornsson ahead of tonight's clash in the ring.

Both men have drastically cut their weight ahead of the grudge match in the Middle East, with Hall admitting he thinks Thor has lost too much weight. The fight was originally due to take place last September, but was delayed due to Hall pulling out with an injured bicep.

Bjornsson has lost a total of 55kg ahead of facing Hall, preparing by fighting in a number of exhibition boxing bouts. Meanwhile, Hall has trained with world champions boxers such as Lawrence Okolie ahead of Saturday's fight, having recovered from his previous injury.

The weigh-in has already taken place ahead of the fight with Hall coming in at 142.2kg and Bjornsson weighing a little heavier at 152kg.

The fighters have agreed that the prize money for this fight will be a donation to charity. Both Hall and Thor have agreed that they will both donate $200,000 to a charity of the winner’s choice.

There is also a further wager, with the fighters agreeing that the loser must get the opponent’s name tattooed on their body. For clarity, this is what the possibilities are, depending on the eventual loser:

  • If Eddie Hall loses - “World’s Strongest Man: Hafthor Julius Björnsson”
  • If Hafthor Björnsson loses - “World’s Strongest Man: Eddie Hall”.

The fighters will wear 12oz gloves, instead of the usual 10oz gloves for heavyweight bouts, with the fight lasting six, two minute rounds if it goes the distance.

Eddie 'The Beast' Hall vs Hafthor 'Thor' Bjornsson will get underway tonight, Saturday, March 19, and at 9pm GMT at the Dubai Duty Free Stadium. Hall vs Thor will be available to watch for free with SEGI.TV holding the rights to the action.
