Eddie Hall must get special tattoo after losing Thor fight in Dubai

Eddie Hall must get a Hafthor Bjornsson tattoo after losing Saturday night’s fight in Dubai. Hall lost on points having been dropped twice in the grudge match.

The two former World's Strongest Man winners were originally set to fight back in September 2021, before Hall pulled out with a bicep injury. Both fighters cut their weight drastically for what was still labelled the 'heaviest boxing match in history'.

The former strongmen agreed to a special bet last year that would see the loser of the fight have their opponent’s name tattooed on their skin. Hall, 34, therefore must now have "World’s Strongest Man" and Bjornsson’s name inked on permanently.

Hall said: “My training partner showed me Thor’s video about getting the tattoo for the loser of the fight. Well Thor, I don’t need to think things over, as I say, I think from the heart so I speak from the heart.

“So straight away, I’ll say yes to that, the loser has to get a tattoo of World’s Strongest Man, and the opposing name. Let’s tick that off. $200,000 each for charity regardless, let’s tick that off, that’s a goer.”

Bjornsson - whose name was shortened to ‘Thor’ in promotion material for the fight - has already said he would not enforce the bet but expects it to be fulfilled.

Speaking to the Mirror, the Icelandic giant said: “He could always back out, I am not going to force the guy. But it is just something that we made mutual by talking but there is no contract. The loser has to get a tattoo.”

The two also agreed that the prize money for the fight would be a donation to charity. Both Hall and Thor agreed that they will both donate $200,000 to a charity of the winner’s choice.

Bjornsson lost a total of 55kg ahead of facing Hall, preparing by fighting in a number of exhibition boxing bouts. Meanwhile, Hall trained with world champions boxers such as Lawrence Okolie ahead of Saturday's fight, having recovered from his previous injury.
