Ed Sheeran was upstaged at his own concert by a six-year-old boy who was "having a ball" at his first gig.
Shell Nichol, 33, from Huyton, bought tickets for her son, Joseph, to see Ed Sheeran perform in Manchester's Etihad Stadium on Saturday, June 11. The mum-of-two said Joseph had really started getting into music and was always asking Alexa to play George Ezra and Ed Sheeran songs.
Joseph's mum made some mock-up tickets for him and put them in a card as a surprise for his sixth birthday. When he opened the card, he was "over the moon" and started listening to the singer-songwriter on repeat.

Shell told The ECHO : "He loves his music and had a really vast music taste. He loves listening to pop, rap without the swearing, Ed Sheeran, George Ezra and The Beatles. There are some songs he listens to that I have never heard before, so he must be hearing them on adverts and on YouTube.
"Sometimes he will like a song and ask me to find out what it is so he can listen to it again. He's constantly saying 'Alexa play this, Alexa pay that'.
"He was so super excited when he saw the tickets, but because I made them myself as the real tickets hadn't arrived, he thought Ed Sheeran invited him personally."
Ahead of the concert, Joseph memorised the setlist and even had a t-shirt especially made for the occasion. But when he got to the arena with his parents and Ed Sheeran started to play Bad Habits, Joseph started dancing his heart out.
A video taken by his mum shows him spinning on the floor, hopping in the air, doing the stanky leg and flossing in the crowd. People, including show security, moved back and watched Joseph dance while clapping.
Shell said: "I don't know where it came from, me and his dad were looking at each other and we had no idea he could dance like that. He dances around at home but he doesn't go anywhere to do it.
"It was his first concert and he was just having the time of his life. I asked him why he was doing it and he said he wanted to make people smile"
After the concert Shell shared the video of her son on Twitter and Instagram, Ed Sheeran shared the footage with his 17.6m fans with the caption "think it’s about time Ed gets a backup dancer". When Joseph found out Ed had seen the video he "screamed", before asking his mum if he needs to give up school.
