Ed Sheeran has been left feeling overjoyed after making history with his fourteenth number one single in the UK.
The 32-year-old chart topping star hit the top spot once again on Friday after releasing his track Eyes Closed - the lead song from his upcoming fifth album, Subtract.
Ed managed to topple Miley Cyrus in order to reach the top spot - and also bagged himself a spot in the history books.
But living in the moment of his victory, Ed took to social media to express his excitement and happiness over his latest number one gong.
He said: "Eyes Closed is my 14th Number 1 in the UK. I’m over the bloody moon, thank you so much. I can’t wait for you to hear Subtract.
“I’m so glad you’ve connected to this song."
He added: "I never, ever take this for granted this far into my career. Thank you for everyone who’s been connecting to Eyes Closed.”
By now having 14 number one tracks, Ed has become officially the third most successful artist in British chart history.
He still trails behind the ultimate king of the charts, Elvis Presley - who had an astonishing 21 number one songs.
But Ed is catching up with The Beatles - who had 17 number one tracks while they were together as a band.
Ed shares the number 3 spot with fellow singers Westlife and Sir Cliff Richard.
While Ed is now gearing up to release his fifth album - which will be on shelves and available to stream and download from 5 May - he may be about to make an unexpected career move.
The singer could be tempted to swap his guitar for some bush tucker trials as he has revealed he would be up for taking part in ITV ’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
He said in a chat with Jonathan Ross: “The one I would do is probably I’m A Celebrity… (Get Me Out Of Here!) it looks quite fun.
“Genuinely. It looks fun. If I had time off, you go in a jungle with a bunch of people you sort of know. I’m not going to do it – I do like the idea of it."
Ed may well have the time to join the much loved ITV reality show at the end of the year, as his long-running +-=÷× Tour will have come to an end by then.
The singer has been trundling his way around the world with the exhausting tour since April last year and will conclude with a performance in Inglewood, California, on 23 September this year.
He would then have time to relax at home for a couple of weeks before jetting Down Under to star on I’m A Celeb - which traditionally begins airing in November.
