Ed Sheeran’s home burial crypt plans get go ahead despite 'detached from reality' claims

Ed Sheeran 's unique plans for his final resting place have got the green light from council officials, despite one of his neighbour's objection.

The Shape of You singer, 30, applied for permission from his local council last month to build his controversial burial crypt in the grounds of his property.

Ed plans to build a 9ft by 6ft chamber, enough to fit two bodies under a slab in the floor, on his estate that he shares with his wife Cherry and their daughter.

The singer has been granted planning permission from council officials, but his forward-thinking plans aren't to everyone's taste.

In her letter of objection seen by The Sun, Anna Woods said: "The area is well served by local churches and I feel there is no need for a well-known person to create his own island of calm when lovely places of worship abound in the area.

"I also note there will be a burial chamber in the building.

"Are celebrities now so detached from reality that their every living breath, and now even the act of dying, be apart from the rest of us?"

Ed's 16-acre, £3.7million mansion near Framlingham, Suffolk, has been nicknamed Sheeranville, thanks to the star's frequent additions to his estate.

Alongside his future burial plot, The A Team singer has also erected his very own pub, three additional houses, a recording studio, a fruit orchard and a swimming pool within his sprawling grounds.

Ed reportedly owns 27 flats, houses and mansions worth an estimated £57million.

In 2013, the Bad Habits singer reportedly bought several houses in Suffolk and has had "never-ending" construction work ever since.

The dad-of-one's main estate is comprised of four houses, including a 16th-century Grade II-listed farmhouse, a bungalow, a four-bedroom home in front of the farmhouse, and a modern detached house with a recording studio.

Ed reportedly snapped up the property for £895,000, and has added millions to its value since he began adapting it nine years ago.

The star's constant renovations and building work hasn't always gone down too well with fellow locals.

"It’s never ending. We have to live with the constant din. It’s not surprising he’s ruffled a few feathers locally," a neighbour told The Sun in the past.

The singer rarely share snippets of her abode with fans, but thanks to the pandemic and lockdowns in 2020, Ed's social media followers got a glimpse inside his luxury abode.

During broadcasts and snaps shared from the star's home, Ed's fans got a sneak peak of some of the rooms - spotting giant teddy bear and a poster as a tribute to the area of Suffolk in one of the singer's spaces.
