Ed Sheeran Roundhay Park road closures, parking restrictions and diversions for two Leeds gigs

More than 100,000 Ed Sheeran fans are set to flock to Roundhay Park soon to catch the singer-songwriter perform at two huge gigs in Leeds.

It's the first time in years that a music event on this scale is being hosted in north Leeds and preparations are already underway to transform Roundhay Park into one of the biggest outdoor music venues in the UK.

The two gigs are taking place on Friday, August 16 and Saturday, August 17 - but with a huge influx of visitors to the area, a number of roads will be closed.

A letter sent to local residents by Leeds City Council says its highways team will try to 'keep road closures to a minimum' - but the gigs are still likely to cause significant disruption.

Full road closures

The following roads will be closed all day on Friday and Saturday:

  • Street Lane
  • Princess Avenue
  • Roundhay Road

Parking restrictions

There will also be a number of parking restrictions on roads near Roundhay Park in a bid to prevent people from blocking driveways and paths. On-street parking will be restricted on the following roads throughout Friday and Saturday:

  • Park Lane
  • Street Lane
  • Oakwood Lane
  • Park View Crescent
  • North Park Avenue
  • Lidgett Park Road
  • Gledhow Lane
  • Fitzroy Drive
  • Lidgett Lane
  • Roundhay Road
  • Gledhow Wood Road
  • Thirn Lane
  • Red Hall Lane
  • Wetherby Road

Additional road closures and parking restrictions

There are a few roads that will be closed from 10am until midnight on both days. There will be managed access during these times for local residents in these areas, but on-street parking is not allowed under any circumstances:

  • Mansion Lane (blue badge parking only)
  • Princes Avenue
  • Park Avenue (blue badge parking only)
  • West Avenue
  • Wetherby Road (taxi access only)
  • Old Park Road

Anyone who ignores the road closures and parking restrictions above could end up having their car towed.
