Ed Sheeran cancels Sunderland Stadium of Light gig due to 'scheduling conflict'

There was some bad news for Ed Sheeran's North East fans on Wednesday, when it was revealed he'd cancelled one of his gigs at Sunderland's Stadium of Light due to a 'scheduling conflict'.

There was great excitement last year when it was announced that the Thinking Out Loud and A Team singer would be bringing his latest tour to Wearside over three consecutive nights, following the huge success of his latest album and number 1 singles Bad Habits and Shivers. Brit winner Ed was all set to play the Stadium of Light on June 2, 3 and 4, but the first night, the Thursday, has now been scrapped due to scheduling issue.

Those who have tickets for the Thursday, June 2 are being offered tickets for one of the other shows, with those affected sent emails informing them on the cancellation. The statement in the email reads: "We regrettably must inform you that due to a scheduling conflict, the show at Sunderland 's Stadium of Light on Thursday, June 2 is unable to take place. We're still very excited for the Friday and Saturday gigs." Ticket holders affected are being offered tickets for either the Friday or the Saturday or a refund.

Those who now won't be going on the Thursday have been quick to react. Taking to Twitter, one disappointed fan wrote: "Gutted my Ed Sheeran date has been cancelled on the Thursday 2nd of June at Sunderland . Been offered the Friday but hotels are ridiculous enough on the Thursday. Ah well obviously wasn’t meant to be ."

A second posted: "Ed Sheeran being cancelled on 2nd June in Sunderland is devastating. Got offered tickets to the day after and it's the one day we can't do," with another tweeting: "Ed Sheeran has just cancelled the first Sunderland show which is the only one I could go to…. Absolutely gutted."
