Ed continues: "Loss, it just took over my life. Every time something massive happened I tend to write a song about it."

The documentary series also addresses the painful loss he suffered when his best friend Jamal Edwards died by cardiac arrest in February 2022, aged just 31.

In the trailer, Ed credits Jamal with helping him launch his career after he gave him his first big break in music.

The singer revealed that the first single from his latest album, Subtract, was written in memory of Jamal and was all about losing him.

Referencing about the song, Eyes Closed, which is due out on March 24, he said: "This song is about losing someone, feeling like every time you go out, you expect to just bump into them, and everything just reminds you of them and things you did together."

"You sorta have to take yourself out of reality sometimes to numb the pain of loss, but certain things just bring you right back into it."

Speaking about why he decided to make the personal documentary, Ed said in a statement: "I’ve always been very guarded in my personal and private life; the only documentary I’ve ever made has been one that focused on my songwriting.

"Disney approached me to make a four-part documentary, and it felt like the right time to open the door and let people in. I hope people enjoy it."
