Ed Balls left groaning on ITV Good Morning Britain as viewers say it's 'too early' and should have come with 'warning'

Ed Balls was left groaning as a debate turned in to a shouting match on Good Morning Britain. The former Labour MP was back fronting the ITV news programme on Thursday (February 16) alongside Ranvir Singh.

And one of the topics up for discussion on the show was whether the Crown Jewels should be returned to their geographical origins ahead of the coronation this year. It comes after it was announced that the controversial Koh-i-noor diamond will not feature in the coronation of the Queen Consort, with Camilla opting to reuse the crown it was once set in instead.

The famous gem was first set in a cross at the front of Queen Mary’s crown when it was worn at her coronation in 1911 but it was replaced by a replica in 1937 when the original was moved to the Queen Mother's crown for her and George VI’s coronation.

But neither the original nor the replica will be used in the coronation of the King and Camilla in May, with diamonds from the late Queen’s personal collection used instead, a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said.

During the discussion on GMB, Ed and Ranvir were joined by GB News' Emma Webb argued they should remain in the UK, while broadcaster Narinder Kaur pointed out that items had been "stolen" from India and should be returned.

As the two women disagreed as they gave both of their points, the pair began to shout over each other as the conversation heated up, and Ed was forced to intervene. At one point he said to Narinder: "Hang on, I'm about to support you so give me a second."

Turning to Emma, the host argued: "In this case, the diamond is not going to be in the crown! It's not even going to be on display at the coronation!"

And while Emma continued to suggest there was no need to return anything to where it had been taken from, Narinder later fumed: "The coloniser is Britain, and actually, it's dehumanising Indians around the world because of the history of colonisation!"

The pair continued to go back and forth and talk over each other as Ed chuckled before groaning about the chaos of the debate. It was then left for Ranvir to step in and end the discussion so the programme could move on.

And GMB viewers weren't impressed with the shouting. @Tuttlebees tweeted: "Oh my.. please don’t have people who think that by shouting all the time means they win an argument-where did you find shouty woman!? Avoid her in the future please….it’s too early. #gmb."
